I know that I am the only one...which is why I\'d like to share with you that I was out and about for four whole days this week without...wait for it.... my phone and Blackberry!! A surreal experience I have to say - but it turned out that the world had not been destroyed, nor had an uproar taken place amongst EFactor members at the end of each day. Life just went on without me for a bit. About 6 weeks ago my gmail crashed first of all, I apparently had been hoarding 120,000 emails. A week later my hard disk on my Mac crashed... after the inital major panic, peace descended over me...no more huge backlog of yet-to-be-answered emails, it was almost like a holiday. I am coming to the conclusion that emails and general communication should be conducted via social media - to prevent being kept busy with it 24 hours a day, every single day.
A while ago I heard the story of a professor who implemented a weekly \'email-clinic\', a dedicated time he would answer his students emailed question. It resulted in halving the amount of emails he received since most people only want quick answers to their questions and don\'t want to wait for the reply. Faced with waiting a few days, they\'d go and figure out the answer themselves instead of relying on him to answer. This puts the finger on the exact email problem - through email, there is no barrier to asking any question at all, whilst most of these questions are ones you can easily find the answer to yourself if you really wanted too.
